If surgery is required, it is typically performed on an outpatient basis under topical anaesthetic. Disorders of the eyelids and tear drainage system are also part of our range of services. In addition to upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), we treat conditions such as drooping eyelids (ptosis) , eyelid tumours, and malpositions of the eyelid (e.g. ectropion, entropion). In cases of excessive tearing, surgical intervention may be appropriate depending on the underlying cause.

Starting at age forty, an annual preventive eye exam is recommended, especially to screen for glaucoma. During the exam, we assess visual acuity, eye pressure, as well as the health of the lens, macula, and optic nerve.
